My deepest condolences to the Hobus family. I had the privilege of working with Matt at MathWorks. He was such an awesome coworker and friend. I was the newest addition to the WA state team, and he made me feel welcome from day one.

My favorite memory of Matt was when we traveled to San Diego for a company event in January of 2014. We watched the Hawks in the NFCCG against the 9er's. We were the only Hawks fans in a bar full of 9er fans. I was watching this great game with Matt, who I just started working with. But it was like I was watching it with one of my own brothers.

Matt was a great guy to be around, and always talked about how much he loved his family and kids. I'm really going to miss him.

Kindest Regards,
Kevin Oshiro

I was a client of Matt's via Vertafore. I had many occasions to share hours long meals with him and we always talked more personal than business so most of what is mentioned in his obituary is familiar. He was a great guy and one of my favorite sales reps of all time! Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends!

My name is Dave Gressman and I was privileged to know Matt through my daughter Jackie Funk and her husband Troy. I always looked forward to seeing Matt and Joy when we visited Washington. Matt was a terrific guy and a man his parents are rightfully proud of. I was saddened and stunned when I heard what happened. My wife and I also lost our son much too young. As tough as this to understand we know that we have special guardian angels to guide us through the rest of our lives. Matt will always be in our hearts.

I got to know Matt in his 30's. It was at a point in my life when I thought I wouldn't meet any new "close friends" - the kind of people you don't think before you say things to. The kind of people you just are 100% real with. I remember the first time I met Matt - he had a huge beard, had been skiing a ton, and frankly looked like he had just hiked down from the mountains. I immediately questioned if we'd get long - but then we started to talk and we never stopped. I learned a lot from Matt. He brought me along crab fishing and I got to know his family. He taught me all sorts of thinks about mustangs. We ended up having children around the same time. He was one of my closest friends.

For me, Matt is one of those people when something happens in life - good or bad - you want to reach for your phone and talk to them He was a confidant, advisor, a friend. I still haven't rationalized him being gone - I know I'm lesser for it and I'm heart broken for Joy and the kids. Only a handful of people in this world have had the impact on me that Matt has and I'll miss him terribly.

While I cannot be at the service on Saturday in person - I just want the family to know I'll be praying and thinking of them.

-Troy

Our love and prayers are with all of Matthew's family. We share warm memories of his time in Arlington, NE. His big smile will always be in our hearts. Fondly we remember the times of catfishing in the Elkhorn River, basketball games and tournaments, 4-H club
meetings, singing in the "quintet", and enjoying life with his classmates and friends. May the Lord surround you with His great love as He heals your aching hearts. Jesus said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die." John 11:25

Joy, I never met you, but Matt always spoke so highly of you. He thought you were a real trooper and I am sure that will help you get through these tough times. That and time, faith and keeping busy will all help. I really enjoyed working with Matt. He was such a good human and excellent sales person. He always wanted to do the right thing by his family, MathWorks and his customers. I enjoyed his sense of humor when we travelled together and over the phone. I am sorry I never met you when I was up there, but I feel like I have. When you are up to it, please give me a call. I have recently been through the loss of my partner and we can share. Matt loved you, his boys, brothers and his family so much. Love always, Janet Hauge

I had the pleasure of inviting Matt to my home while he was in Massachusetts a couple years ago. He loved making fun of our accents but he was pretty bad as most are at it. My family will miss him he had a very kind heart.

Matt had many tall tales, but he had a few that were legit. The elk story was a classic and I recall how his face lit up when he told everyone about it. I love his passion for life. I miss him deeply.

So, so sorry to hear about Matt's passing. I remember when your family first moved here and lived in the little tiny house where the Youth Center now stands. I loved hearing the boys laughter come from the house, it was like the whole house was being held up by the joy they were having together. I know that God is wrapping His arms around you and is whispering in your ears that all will be all OK. "It is well with his soul"
Know that we are all here to help support you in any way we can. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.

Ikeep seeing pop ups to send flowers. Please see the obituary and support the fund set up for his young sons. Flowers last a few days and in the end so does the memory of them. Touch the lives of his young chilren instead. That is a gift worth making. Barb and I would like to extend our thanks to all who send wishes. We trust in the goodness of God! Job 19 vs23=27

The entire Prochnow family from Lincoln, Nebraska want to express our sadness with the death of your son, David and Barbara. We only remember Matthew as a little tyke when you were at Trinity Lutheran School and all his siblings. They were so special. And we will never forget the year you taught Melissa and all the love and care you showed her when she would have her asthma attacks. Your entire family is loved by us. The truly wonderful feeling about his life is the footprint he leaves behind for his sons and wife....and the walk he has with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. May God grant you peace as you travel your paths in this life and remember Matthew with a song in your heart and smile upon your lips.
