Lawrence J. Bucher, 79, passed away on Dec. 25, 2016, in Newport, Washington.
Lawrence was born Nov. 26, 1937, in Sunburst, to Alvin and Hildegarde Bucher. His family settled in Kalispell in 1952, where he spent the majority of his life. He married Margaret Bucher in 1975.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Ida VonDerHeide, Alan Bucher and Eugene Bucher.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Margaret; his children, Elizabeth Peterson and Bobbie (Jody) Blakley; siblings, Eileen Rollins, Rita Boss and Martha VonDerHeide; grandchildren, Caleb, Jeselyn, Jacob and one on the way; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry supported his family by working as a janitor for 30 years at Fred Meyers.
He was a man who loved the outdoors and working with his hands, he was always fixing and tinkering with whatever needed done. He was a very quiet gentle man with a quiet laugh who loved to tell jokes. He had a soft spot in his heart for cats. He would often pick up his kitties to pet and speak gently. His gentle nature endeared him to all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at Family Life Christian Church, 1075 Foys Lake Rd, in Kalispell. Interment will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens
