William Arthur “Bill” Sandmeyer
90 years old, resident of Table Bay Flathead Lake, Rollins, Montana. Died on June 11, 2022. Bill passed away peacefully at home.

He was born March 25, 1932 in Great Falls Montana to his parents Vincent M Sandmeyer and Olive M. Sisson (both deceased). Bill grew up in central Montana in Judith Basin County. He was raised on a working cattle ranch and participated in all ways helping grow the family business.

After graduating from High School in Stanford Montana he married Linda Ross (with whom he had 2 children Dona Zoe and Vincent Scott-they were divorced after 5 years) Bill went to Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis Minnesota, after school he was an auto mechanic. He pursued a career with IBM as a customer engineer. He retired from IBM after 20 years and went back to the family ranch at Wolf Butte south of Geyser Montana. He ran a cattle operation as well as introducing sheep into the production. After selling the family ranch he moved up to the Flathead Valley where he continued to stay busy and pursue his many passions.

Bill worked hard but he also played hard. He was a very active person all of his life, he was still riding trials motorcycle courses until the age of 89. He was either very proficient or an expert in the following recreation fields; (in no given order) cyclist, motocross rider, private pilot, mountain man, hatchet and knife thrower, cross country skier, sailor, fly tying fly fisherman, back packer, canoe and kayak paddler, rower, marksman, black powder enthusiast, dart thrower, dog trainer, model builder, leather worker, rode the Baja peninsula on a motorcycle, trials motorcycle rider to mention just a few of his hobbies.

In 1963 He met Evelyn Kathleen Monson. They were married in Glasgow and were married for 50 years before she passed away. They shared a life of great experiences, working and playing together.

He lived in the state of Montana with the exception of attending Dunwoody College of Technology in Minnesota, the towns and cities he lived in were: Geyser, Stanford, Belt, Great Falls, Glasgow, Billings, Laurel, Rollins. He was drafted in the Army and served from 1952-54 he was honorably released with the rank of Corporal.

Bill is survived by daughter Dona Lee, spouse Gary Lee, Son Vincent Sandmeyer, Step daughter Sherry Shillean spouse Jim Shillenn, Step son Michael Schultz spouse Connie, Bill has 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, also 5 Step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Bill leaves behind his best friends, dog… Blake (who rehomes with the family) and the cat 8 Ball.

Family Graveside service will be conducted on June 18 2022 at 12:00 noon at the Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell Montana
Johnson-Gloshat funeral home is handling the arrangements.
Bill will be sorely missed by family and friends who have deeply loved, cared for and respected this amazing man. He showed us “an active body stays active”. Bill was a patriot who would remind you that “freedom isn’t free” we all need to do our share.
