Martha Christine Archer

April 13, 1935 ~ February 13, 2020 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Tribute

Our beloved Christine Archer passed away Feb. 13, 2020, peacefully at her home in Kila surrounded by loved ones.

She was born April 13, 1935, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. She was the youngest child of Joseph and Martha Hoelscher. She attended St. Paul’s Catholic School until her graduation in 1953.

In 1954 she married her husband William W. Archer. In 1961 she and her husband moved their family to Milpitas, California, where Bill found work in the plumbing trade. They lived there for 15 years and made a wonderful home for their family of four children. In 1976 they moved their family back to Pocahontas to Christine’s family farm so that she could care for her father after her mother’s death. She often recalled many happy times being with her family and friends on that beautiful, peaceful farm. In 1984 Christine and Bill moved to Montana where she resided with her husband until her death.

Christine was more than a wonderful wife and mother; she was the perfect example of kindness and love. Anyone who knew her will tell you that her beautiful, loving spirit shone through not only in her smile but also in her touch and everything that she did. Her kindness was not only limited to her family; she was extremely charitable and deeply touched by the pain and needs of others. Her charity and her earnest, devout prayers have helped many people.

Along with her passion for helping others, her love for her children and grandchildren, Christine also enjoyed nature. She enjoyed gardening and landscaping with rocks and camping every hunting season with her husband and her brother Bill (who would visit from Arkansas). She spoke fondly of the many years that she her husband and brother enjoyed the outdoors. Christine also enjoyed travel. She would marvel at the unique beauty of different landscapes and how wonderful it was to see God’s creation.

Christine is survived by her husband William W. Archer, her children Bill Archer Jr., James Archer and Magda Anderson, Robert Archer and his wife Jennifer, Rebecca Borden and her husband Stuart, and their many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her siblings William “Bill” Hoelscher and John “Leo” Hoelscher, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Paul Martin Hoelscher, James Edward Hoelscher and Robert Mathew Hoelscher, her parents Joseph and Martha Hoelscher, and also her daughter-in-law Charlotte Archer.

Christine will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She saw the world through “childlike” eyes full of purity and innocence. She taught us to appreciate the beauty and wonder of the world around us. She also taught us the power of love! The greatest way we can honor her memory is to love and be kind to one another.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Risen Christ Catholic Church in Kalispell.
