Kenneth Sigurd Mattson

July 28, 1930 ~ November 15, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Kenneth Sigurd Mattson, age 86, died of natural causes early morning, November 15th. Services will be held on Monday, November 28th, at 1 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 100 Valley View Court in Kalispell.
He was born in Red Lodge, Montana, and lived in Roberts, Montana until he was 14 when his family moved to Kalispell, Montana. He married Carma Davis in 1949. They had four children together, Linda, Larry, Alan and Cindy. Kenny married Francis Ramsey in 1959. They had a son, Randy, together and remained married until her death a couple of years ago.
Kenny spent his working years in his logging business, and is remembered camping near various remote logging jobs with his family in tow. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop working on equipment, and later in life on his car. He endured the tragedy of the deaths of two sons at young ages just over a year apart. Old western movies were one of his passions which he would watch over, and over most likely with a root beer float in hand. He will be remembered for surviving numerous logging accidents, and determinedly carrying on despite the dire predictions of doctors – one time being told he would never walk again, at which point, he put his shattered ankle and foot into his boot and walked out on it. He was a tough man, with a piercing gaze, and the heartiest of laughs. In his final years he laughed easier, and loved to reminisce about the places he’d been, the people he had been with, and always fondly remembered all the dogs he had through the years all while sipping on yet another root beer.
Kenneth was preceded in death by sons, Larry Mattson, and Alan Mattson; brother, Floyd Mattson; parents, Hazel and Hollis Mattson; and wife, Francis Mattson.
He is survived by his sisters, Joan Burrows and Mickey O’Myer ; daughters, Linda Brewer and Cindy Koeper; son, Randy Mattson; grandchildren, Rion Landrum, Scott Landrum, Robert Landrum, Melanie Marsh, Tommy Marsh, Lana Walker, Jeff O’Bleness Mattson, Aimee Jones and Cole Mattson; great grandchildren, Thomas McChesney, Aaron McChesney, Jayde Mattson, Destini Mattson, Justice Jones, Arianna Mattson, Avery Mattson, Sydney Jones, Samuel Jones, Rocky Jones, Sydnee Marsh, Kyle Murrell, David Murrell, Hannah Murrell, Nicole Murrell, Chance Landrum, Jacob Landrum, Shepard Landrum, Joshua Landrum, Anthony Landrum, Jeramey Landrum, Kylene Landrum, and Scott Landrum II; great –great grandchild, Hayleigh McChesney.
