Harold Wachsmuth

March 14, 1927 ~ May 23, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Harold “Walky” Wachsmuth, 89, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great and great great grandfather passed away May 23, 2016 at Beehive Homes of Kalispell.  He was a great friend to many and has gone home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Harold was born March 14th, 1927 to William and Anna Wachsmuth. He helped his dad in the family business repairing tractors, trucks and cars.  During his Flathead High School years, Harold worked at Gregg’s Dairy, Buffalo Hill Golf Course and relative’s farms in the Lower Valley.  He had fond memories of riding his bike to McMillan Farm to harvest raspberries and strawberries.
Harold enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 and was given an honorable medical discharge.
In 1949 Harold worked on the Hungry Horse Dam and later worked for Engebretson Gravel and McElroy and Wilkens.  He retired in 1992 after 40 years.
One of Harold’s greatest passions was the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department where he was the last surviving original founding charter member. After 30 years of dedicated service to his community, Harold retired in 1982. He was a member of the Northwest Antique Power Association and enjoyed exhibiting his extensive collection of grinding wheels and other collections.  He was an avid collector of Hot Wheels, toy tractors and firetrucks that would amaze kids.  
In 1950 Harold married Alice Helen Taylor and had three daughters, Vickie (Bob) Blake, Debbie (Greg) Kirkman and Rhonda (Lyle) Newman, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
In 1996 Harold he remarried to Leone Foster.  Leone has four children, Ron Foster, Karen (Mike) Cochran, Steve (Jeanne) Foster, Dave (Julie) Foster, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Harold is proceeded in death by his first wife, Alice, his parents and brother, Dan.
He is survived by brother, Ronnie of Plains, MT and wife, Leone.
Public viewing 9 to 11 am at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home with graveside service at 1 PM on Friday, June 3 at Conrad Memorial Cemetery. A Procession led by a Evergreen Volunteer Fire Truck will leave Johnson-Gloschat at 12:30 pm. Reception following the service at the Eagles Club.
