Rika Aronson Mogolis, 78, passed peacefully on March 26, 2024, in her home with Frank, her partner of 35 years by her side.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1945, in Cut Bank, to Rose and Governor J. Hugo Aronson. In Governor Aronson's book, "The Galloping Swede," he wrote about his young daughter, "Rika, as she grew and developed, became quite a little human dynamo, running here and there, mostly in places where she probably shouldn't have been." Those who knew Rika well will probably agree that even in her later years, she was still a human dynamo and a little mischievous.
When a loved passes, memories and thoughts are shared amongst family and friends. Among them, two of her closest and most beloved friends, Julie Krutchfelt and Aunt Mary Sullivan, offered poignant reflections. Julie fondly recalled my mom's unwavering authenticity and never being afraid to be herself. Aunt Mary, moved by my mom's fearless advocacy for the underdog, spoke of how Rika's courage had profoundly impacted her own life. These heartfelt tributes echoed sentiments shared by others, each painting a portrait of my mom's tenacious, compassionate soul with heart of gold, who touched the lives of many as a second mother figure.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Rose McClure Aronson and Governor J. Hugo Aronson, Elsie Jones (our Grandma gifted to us through God's love), son of Frank Drown, Dustin Drown; and her son, John Mogolis, who I am sure was waiting for her with open arms and a huge smile.
She is survived by the love of her life Frank Drown, and his daughters, Darcy Drown Faler and Kristin Allen (Nate); along with all of their children, her grandson, Gunnar Mogolis; and her daughter, Joani Mogolis (Michelle).
Rika was adamant that she did not want a service of any kind and out of respect and love for her, those wishes will be honored. However, if you would like to celebrate Rika's life please make a donation in her name to any animal rescue, animal shelter, or humane society of your choice. Donating to any animal cause would mean the world to her.
