I first met Pat while working for the Santa Clara County's Executive's Office. She had just become a Deputy County Executive, and had moved from the 8th to the 11th floor. To hear her speak, of her humble beginnings, and how through hard work, dedication, and perseverance anything was possible. I was a clerk in 1990. I am still with SCC and I have promoted through the ranks, and as I read Pat's obituary it saddens me that she's gone. The good always pass away young. Rest In Paradise Pat,...thank you for paving the way for the many women who now hold positions of executive management. Thank you for breaking through the glass door.

Pat was such a presence in the County Exec's Office that it's hard to believe she was mortal. Engaging with her on budget and personnel issues was at once daunting yet enticing because of her skill, her wit and her dispassionate manner. Long live Pat! May she rest in peace.

You may not remember me but I lived next door to you on Coakley Drive back in the early 60s.
