Tribute

Dr. Gerald (Tim) Slobojan DVM

Dr. Tim Slobojan, age 83, of Kalispell, Montana, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 1st, 2024. He led an extraordinary life devoted to his family, faith, and caring for animals in the Flathead Valley.

Born in Ambrose, North Dakota, Tim was raised on a farm in Mohall, North Dakota. He pursued his education at Carroll College and went on to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. After serving in the US Army in Texas, he then established roots and made the Flathead Valley his lifelong home.

Dr. Tim’s passion for animals earned him a household name in the Flathead Valley for his dedication to serving the needs of both animals and their owners. He and his partner Dr. John Erfle established LaSalle Vet Clinic where he spent the rest of his career until forced into early retirement due to Parkinson's disease.

He was honored as a long serving member of the Montana Veterinary Medical Association as well as former president. Tim was also involved in the Knights of Columbus, and spent many years as the veterinarian at the NW Montana Fairgrounds.

His commitment to his profession was matched only by his deep love for his family and his faith. Tim was a founding member of Risen Christ Parish and spent many years involved in activities and care there. After retirement he learned to golf and enjoyed many fishing trips to Alaska. He became a fan of sports in southwest MT supporting his grandsons and attended games whenever he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Nick and Mary Slobojan, Uncle Joe Slobojan who he had a special relationship with, and his in-laws; Sy and Lois Eccleston.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Diane; his children Teresa (John) Monaco, Dave Slobojan, Mike(Lisa) Slobojan, and Jerome Slobojan; grandchildren Meagan, Marcus, Michael(Sarah), Taylor(Ben), Mitchell, Connor(Layne), Courtney, and Gabriel; great-grandchildren Carson, Bentley, and Quinn; as well as his sisters Rita Bosworth, Rose(Jim) Donnelly, and PJ Slobojan and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Additionally, Tim leaves behind many lifelong friends and colleagues who had the privilege of knowing him. Tim’s warm, engaging spirit will be deeply missed and remembered with respect for life and his profession.

Tim’s children would like to recognize and thank his #1 caregiver who made it possible for him to remain at home. We are eternally grateful - Thanks Mom!
The family would also like to express deep gratitude to caretakers; Bev, Logan Health Home Care and Hospice, and Immanuel Living Care.

A celebration of Tim’s life and legacy will be held at Risen Christ Church Monday April 8th, 2024 at 11:00am. There will be a rosary service Sunday April 7, at 7:00 pm at Risen Christ.
